A Certain Slant of Light Photography
One basic technique to draw attention to a subject is through the use of leading lines and frames. In this case, the greenery encase the Lingxiao Shrine, and the branches serendipitously lead to the temple in the background. I would have loved to be a few inches taller for a better perspective. Times like these I wished my camera had one of those swivel LCD screens so I can stretch my arms way up high for a shot without resorting to the spray-and-pray shooting style (i.e, randomly click, click, click and hope one turns out nice). Ah well.
Chinese Brunch!
25 AugAir China held our/a lot of people’s bags last night so long that we all missed our flight. Instead, they put us in a hotel in Beijing while we wait to fly to Zhengzhou tonight. We get to stay here eating free meals and watching Chinese TV until the shuttle takes us to the airport tonight @ 7:00pm. Meanwhile we are eating our first Chinese brunch right now! 🙂
The World Around

Teaching/Moving abroad question #2
23 AugIf your company or school promises free airline tickets don’t forget to ask whether that includes 2 suitcases or 1. Even though the standard was 2 for an international flight, United charged us an extra $100 for the second case because the school discounted flights by giving us only 1.
