Unloading Day!

24 Oct

Unloading the #bokchoy trucks at the restaurant! I’ve never seen so much bok choy in my life – it was packed when they started unloading. 😯 Bok choy is such a staple of their food culture, people will pay thousands of dollars for a life size jade bok choy statue for their family rooms. In America, we express bountiful harvests through cornucopias or wheat bushels. They show it with bok choy 😄

Taste Buds Beware!

#Confession – Most of my phone gallery are pictures of random Chinese things I need to translate to save myself. E.g. to know the difference between microspicy and ‘it’s too spicy’ 😂😂😂

One of my favorite mediums of art is Asian stonework c whether statues or the many scupltures woven into temples and palaces, I never fail to be impressed. 💕

What’s your go to snack?

#Chinese c-store treats include corn on the cob and tea soaked duck eggs. 😃 It’s funny to me how concepts of what constitutes a ‘treat’ changes culture to culture.

CCTV Tower

4 Oct

Checked out the #CCTV Tower in #Beijing yesterday, and it turned out to be a GORGEOUS day for it! Was going to go to the forbidden city, but changed our minds . . . glad we did, this trip was perfect. Great view, clear skies, and not too many people 💕 90RMB TICKET (without meal at revolving restaurant or undersea world).

Take line 1 or 10 to Gongzhufen Station (exit A). Follow map directions to cross over to the bus station (about 5 minute walk). Take any of the buses shown (437 is 1 stop, 977 is 2 stops) the correct number of stops. Get off and see the tower!
