Happy Easter ~ For Christ is Risen

27 Mar

Happy Easter and Resurrection day to my fellow believers! I don’t speak often here about my faith, but this past year’s events have me feeling like something needs to be said.

I want it to be known here and now, once and for all, that I do believe that Jesus is the Christ, the only son of the only God. If you ever see weakness or faults or (God forbid) a lack of faith in me, know that it is my own weak body and willpower and is no reflection upon the Righteousness or Power of my God. Do not judge my God based upon your view of me. Judge my God based upon what He says and does.

And I believe that if you trust in Him, believe in His power and authority, and repent of your sins–you will be saved. Now that doesn’t mean you’ll be saved from pain. That you won’t experience heartbreak. That you will always understand everything that happens in your life. That you will be blessed abundantly on earth. That the rewards of Jabez or the fate of Job will be yours. But I do believe that no matter what happens to us on earth, there is a better future waiting for us in Heaven.

I know that all the news recently looks grim, that we are under attack all over the earth, and that it seems to many the Devil and his lies are winning the day. I am young enough that I have always lived in a world where Christianity was under pressure, but old enough to remember when the fight was mostly civil in at least the first-world countries. Today, we can no longer say that is true. We are truly in a fight for our faith, the likes of which we haven’t seen in centuries, and we must not falter.

That’s why now, more than ever, it is important to remember this blessed and most miraculous day. It’s the day that God and His son proved, once and for all, that there is no power that can take them out. That the worst the Devil had to throw on the table was no match for the awesome God we serve. What a comfort and what a joy! ❤ So don’t give up, con’t give in, and don’t fade out. Our God is forgiving. Our God is great. Our God is good. No matter what the Devil tries to say, Our God is awesome, fierce and powerful. And most of all, our God is Love.

God looked into our future and saw where things would go. He realized the ugliness and sin that would flood this world in no small way due to humanity’s foolish and greedy life choices.  But God looked beyond our weaknesses, faults, fears, and insecurities to the wonderful and beautiful creations that He so loved. In fact, loved us so much, that He was willing to send His only son by birth to die in a horrible, terrible way and to win that victory over death once and for all, so that our futures would be saved as we became adopted Children in His eternal home.  What a moment, that first realization for the disciples that he was gone from the tomb. The fear, the doubt. And then the joy, the complete and utter awe and amazement. If that kind of God is for us? Who then can be against us! And how can we ever turn away from Him?

“Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life: He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”” — John 11: 25-26

Good Friday in My Heart
by Mary Elizabeth Coleridge

GOOD FRIDAY in my heart! Fear and affright!
My thoughts are the Disciples when they fled,
My words the words that priest and soldier said,
My deed the spear to desecrate the dead.

And day, Thy death therein, is changed to night.

Then Easter in my heart sends up the sun.

My thoughts are Mary, when she turned to see.

My words are Peter, answering, ‘Lov’st thou Me?’
My deeds are all Thine own drawn close to Thee,
And night and day, since Thou dost rise, are one.

Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it.  His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.

But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.  He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.  And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.”

So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word.

Happy Easter!
