Step Out, Take a Chance

8 Feb

“But a planet can also become dark because of “too strong a desire for security … the greatest evil there is.” Meg resists her father’s analysis. What’s wrong with wanting to be safe? Mr. Murry insists that “lust for security” forces false choices and a panicked search for safety and conformity. This reminded me that my grandmother would get very annoyed when anyone would talk about “the power of love.” Love, she insisted, is not power, which she considered always coercive. To love is to be vulnerable; and it is only in vulnerability and risk—not safety and security—that we overcome darkness.”

Translation in #Asia – Miscommunication Much?

8 Feb

This is why living in #China or translating from Chinese – English is so hard. . . . Apparently this was supposed to say ‘Copy Business Hours’. Instead it says ‘Check toilet’ 😂😜 Most translators are like this! Even #Google translate sucks with Asian languages 😭 *For anyone visiting #China I recommend #HanpingLite. It’s a great dictionary. If you’re in #Korea to visit or for the #olympics, I recommend #codegent Korean Lite app. 😀

#Travel to #Kyoto – I went out walking one morning in spring 🎼

6 Feb

‘By the river I went walking
When my troubles came to mind.
But I did not stop for them
And they could not catch up to me.’

This is the breath-taking park at #Arashiyama in #Kyoto Japan. My friends went to find the #monkey 🙈🙉🙊park at the top of the mountain, but I’m not a HUGE fan of monkeys up close – and – personal. So I just walked along the river. This day is one of my most precious memories. The atmosphere just soothes your soul ❤️.

Travel #Foodie – Green Tea Chocolate

3 Feb

Ok Korea, I Love a good hot cocoa and this mint Chocolate was delish. But WHY add the green tea tree on top?!? Cocoa doesn’t need tea! And I thought it was a mint cookie. . . . it was horrible! Trickery I tell you! But seriously, if you’re in Korea for the #olympics, you gotta try their cafes. They are SO good. Cafe Bene and Angel-N-Us are two of my faves. Fellow #traveler, which coffee shop is your guilty pleasure?

#Art – Cherry Blossoms

2 Feb

Art in the temple & gardens of Sanjusangendo & Chishaku-in at the beautiful #Kyoto. Facebook reminded me of this trip in my memories today. I still say, if you could only visit one city in all of #Japan, go to Kyoto. Breathtaking history, culture, art, museums, temples, natures, modern. . . . I ❤️ Kyoto as much as I do Seoul (and that’s saying a lot!)

“Bran thought about it. ‘Can a man still be brave if he’s afraid?’
‘That is the only time a man can be brave,’ his father told him.”
