Avoiding Coffee Spills

13 Jan

Here is my random tip of the day!

I don’t know about anyone else, but I am constantly spilling coffee all over my hand.  Trying to carry the open cup from the coffee pot to a table-top usually leaves me with burn marks and rather loud expressions of words better left unspoken.  0_0

But then, a waitress offered me a little tip.  Did you know that it is easier to carry an open cup of coffee if you don’t look at it?

Still Finding Ancient Buried Treasure

Still Finding Ancient Buried Treasure

It always seems so strange to me that there is still undiscovered buried treasure hidden about the world.  With all of our modern technology, archaeological hunts, and hundreds of treasure-hunters, the people of the past have still somehow managed to keep their secrets thousands of years after their deaths.

CLScholarship Semi-Finalist!

10 Jan

Yes!  (Fist pumping in the air), I got into the program as a semi-finalist.  We have now cut the applicant pool down from 4900+ to one third of that.  The second cut’s results will be posted in February when I will learn if I am one of the finalists.  Oh, I can’t wait!

I need a internet-wide hand-hold for the next few minutes. . .

CLScholarship results are out for the first level.  Apparently their are sending out acceptances and rejections as we speak. . . I have been waiting for this since last November!!! O_O  I am also a member to their facebook page, and so far only 3 out of 50+ were accepted.  This is an alarmingly low number!!

AHHHHHHH!!!

Zorbing–As deadly as it looks

Zorbing–As deadly as it looks

I had no earthly idea that Zorbing was even a thing.  Much less a recognized sport.  However, I think I’ll postpone trying it for a while.  Not unless I have walls guarding my every way down the mountain.  Who would have thought it could go so badly off course!

College Charm School

College Charm School

Interesting article talking about the move toward teaching college students manners.  Universities in the United States are beginning to offer lessons on charm for their students.  They’ll teach you everything from making a good impression to how to each a bread roll.  I think this is an excellent idea, manner are highly underrated in today’s day and age.  Considering the desperate need for jobs in the modern economy, students need all the advantages they can get, and this is a great way to get ahead of the pack.  Go colleges!

Who Knew?

Who Knew?

Fascinating picture of a bicycle now grown into a tree.  What I find strange is the fact that the bike is so far off the ground.  I guess as the tree grew, it took the bike up with it?

Beware Criminal-Minded Cats Everyone (And the idiots behind the evil plots)

Bwahahahah!!!  Did they think the guards wouldn’t notice the duct tape?  I mean, I know that tape is good for everything, but it is not exactly invisible.  Oh, the stupidity.  It never ceases to amaze.

Secrets to Share

4 Jan

A friend shared this poem with me today, and I was pleasantly surprised by the way it resonated with my thoughts recently.  Thus, I pass it on without further ado for further consideration!

Your Mission. . . Should You Choose to Accept It
By Hugh Eckert (2004)

Listen, I will tell you an awful secret,
A terrible heresy, a forbidden Truth:
This life is meant to be enjoyed.
We are here to play in the Garden-
To be ourselves, only more so
To make happy and be happy, love and be loved.
(Beloved, be Love!)

Say this and be damned,
Do this and be scorned,
Dare this and win!
Dance this life, grow drunken on it,
Make laughter your ally
In this alchemy.

All the biggest lies of history deny this:
life is not meant to be suffering;
 The addition of those words-
Click as tumblers fall, the lock moves,
light shines around the edges
Of the door to Joy.

No Signs says the Sign

3 Jan

LOL, my ironic pic of the day. There were actually two copies of this sign on the pole warning everyone about not posting signs.
