New Tool on Facebook
9 AprNew Tool on Facebook–The Smiley-Face!
So, I didn’t really notice this before, but apparently there is yet another new addition to the Facebook experience. If you look at the box where you insert your status updates (i.e. “I’m totally ready for Spring!”–>My post today :P) you will notice a new smiley-face button.
If you click that smiley-face, you will see the options pictured below. There you can choose from a long list of things including “I’m reading such and such” or “I’m feeling wonderful” to your status. I’ve seen this option on other journal software programs (DeviantArt, Livejournal), but it is new to FB! What do you think?
One Ring Size too Far
6 Apr
Okay, so I’m not too fond of the ring in your nose trend that’s been going around since I was a teen. Personally, I usually find that they look like boogers (I made that mistake out loud only once though. . . ). But there is no mistaking this one for anything other than exactly what it is. A giant ring looping through her nose. O_O No words. . .
A Mermaid Tail Come True!

You can’t see me, but I’m secretly squealing inside. . . . Eeeeeeee!!!!!
This woman is an honest-to-God mermaid (okay so she hasn’t mastered the whole breathing under water, and she is notedly missing a particular flounder fish at her side, but still!). She used to work in college offices, now she swims underwater with a beautiful, gem-stone encrusted mermaid tale. I’m just waiting for her to announce her marriage to the mermaid prince! This definitely goes on my list of all time favorite unique jobs! 🙂
Good Friday. . . Into God’s Hands, We Surrender Our Very Lives
30 MarAnd Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.
Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.
So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God!”
Matthew 27: 50-55

Yours, Mine, and Ours: The Elgin Marbles and the Power of One Word
26 MarThe Parthenon
The artistry is exquisite; the detailing impressive. Built from 447 B.C. to 432 B.C. when such a building was truly a monument to the creativity and abilities of the Greeks, the Parthenon’s beauty has survived generations and centuries to remind the world of the power of human ingenuity. Carefully built upon a solid foundation of limestone and painstakingly elaborated with carvings of Pentelic Marble, the Parthenon has 46 separate columns surrounding the building. Above those columns, dozens of detailed marble plaques were embedded in the roof (1). It is these plaques that have been the center of so much debate in recent years (1). You can actually still see in the photo below the places where these embedded marbles used to be. Continue reading
Changes in the New Pinterest: The Basics
24 MarPinterest is currently changing over to a new interface, and, while there aren’t any too serious changes, some things are slightly different. I’ve been playing around with the new format and thought I’d run over some of the changes here. So here are a few notations on the changes to your account home page and directions on adding or altering boards and pins.
The New Account Home Page
If you look carefully, you will note that all the buttons on the top menu are now combined into one new drop-down menu in the upper right-hand corner. Continue reading
