In Memorial

In memorial for EunB (21) and RiSe (23), members of the Korean band “Ladies Code.”  The band was involved in an accident on Sept. 3, when their van lost a tire and crashed into the guardrail/protective rail.  EunB was pronounced DOA, with her funeral on Sept. 5.  RiSe passed away today after an extensive surgery had to be halted due to complications.  It’s amazing and tragic how quickly these types of things can happen.  So in honor of these girls who contributed their own part to the growing culture of K-Pop, God bless you and your families.

Law School Is a Good Looks Murderer

You know when your eyes are bloodshot, your draining the Visine bottle like nobody’s business, your hair is greasy from a whole night of stress, your heart is racing, and your skin is all dry and itchy that you’ve been spending way too much time on research papers and living off caffeine. If I don’t get some water and sleep (not necessarily in that order); I’m going to crash.

In Memory of Paul Walker

In memory of Paul Walker (aka the character Brian O’Connor), who passed away today in a car crash.  I don’t usually have any emotional response when one of the stars passes away (beyond pity of course), but Walker’s character in Fast and the Furious meant a lot to me and my friends.  My best friend and I spent hours bonding over the FATF films, watching the first 3 straight in a row (we were a little late getting caught up).  We would talk for days after each re-watch oohing and aahing over the fast cars and hot boys, and his loss hit us both kind of hard.  We didn’t know him personally, but his work was important to  us and meant a lot to our memories as friends.  He was an excellent actor, and according to all reports a stand-up guy in the middle of the mess that is Hollywood.  So to Paul Walker (and the memories of Brian O’Connor), may your trip to Heaven be like one giant drag race to the finish line!

I Support the Liberty University Family

Many of you know that I am a Liberty University graduate, and a proud one at that.  After reading the articles and the comments coming out, I wanted to say a couple things.

TO THE FAMILIES OF THE VICTIMS:

We like to quote Bible verses and pithy sayings at moments like these, but none of that really meets this kind of situation.  Except one: “Jesus Wept.”  After what happened today, our hearts are breaking for both of you. Liberty is supposed to be a safe place, a home where people are blessed indeed.  Nothing like this is ever supposed to happen.  There are no explanations we can offer, no excuses, no reasons.  This incident is all the more horrific for that, and I have no idea how to even begin to express the strength of our sorrow for you.  Just know  that our thoughts and prayers go with you. I know this school; I know these students. They are good people, and they are thinking of and supporting you, even if you can’t see them.  I know that they are all praying (many on their knees) for you and for your loss.   As parts of the Liberty family, they are extended members of our personal families, and we grieve with you.

Good Friday. . . Into God’s Hands, We Surrender Our Very Lives

And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.

Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,  and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.

 So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God!”
