Now That’s A Hello Kitty!!

10 Dec

I’ve never quite gotten into the Hello Kitty craze. I liked Barbie, I loved Polly Pocket, and My Little Pony was a keeper. But, Hello Kitty? Not so much. Still, that’s just me. The little girls I’ve babysat and my many female second cousins are scooping these products up like they’ll never go out of style. I even see college girls walking around with Hello Kitty Backpacks!

So in honor of all those female tweens and tweens-at-heart, here is an amazing Hello Kitty exhibition promoting tree-planting in Japan. This thing even shoots lasers! It’s like a superman Hello Kitty!

Rocking Light Show

9 Dec

Season’s Greetings! With 2 finals left, I’m finally getting into the Christmas spirit. My family drove around last night looking at lights, and they helped jump start some of that spirit 🙂 So I thought I would share this awesome Christmas light display/music show someone sent me. People’s imaginations amaze me!!

The Head of Aristotle

6 Dec

Wow!  Check out this article about the sale of a Raphael piece of art.

This charcoal drawing, known as the “Head of an Apostle” and drawn by the famous artist Raphaello Sanzio da Urbino, has been part of the Duke of Devonshire’s Chatsworth House’s private collection since the 1700s.  Who wouldn’t want to own a Raphael?

Raphael’s drawings and paintings are amazing works of art. The detail, precision, and naturality of the pictures are always amazing to behold. He also created the famous School of Athens.  That work also depicted Aristotle, along with dozens of other famous philosophers. He styled the philosophers bodies in such a way that they are easily recognizable, a fact that demonstrates the power behind his abilities to communicate through his art.

What an amazing buy!  Great shopping success story 🙂

2 Tests Down, 3 to go!

4 Dec

12/4/2012 –Yay!  Arbitration exam is now officially taken care of.  It seemed harder to me than other people thought, but hopefully it went well.  Now on to Copyrights.  Fighting!

12/5/2012–Oh dear,  you know it ‘s a bad sign when the A+ students complain that they kept changing their answers.  I try not to talk about tests until after they are finished, but they kept talking around me, and it is kind of hard not to hear.  Anyway, teacher had to fix the exam half way through, we’ll see how it goes.  Next is Constitutional Law II–equal rights, religious rights, and the right to privacy.  Here we go!

Returning to the Garden

2 Dec

I must say farewell until after final exams are over.  Should be about 2 weeks; I have five exams on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Tuesday, and Friday respectfully.  Prayers and best wishes would be much appreciated.  Somehow, I don’t see a four hour closed-book Constitutional Law exam being a walk in the park.  🙂  But until I return, I leave this poem by Robert Louis Stevenson.  For now, I must be mature and read grown-up books, but I shall return to my garden of poetry, history, and cool artwork before long!  I shall not disappear into thin air.

As from the house your mother sees
You playing round the garden trees,
So you may see, if you will look
Through the windows of this book,
Another child, far, far away,
And in another garden, play.
But do not think you can at all,
By knocking on the window, call
That child to hear you. He intent
Is all on his play-business bent.
He does not hear, he will not look,
Nor yet be lured out of this book.
For, long ago, the truth to say,
He has grown up and gone away,
And it is but a child of air
That lingers in the garden there.

Bringing Light to the World: A Little Drop of Kindness At A Time

1 Dec

It’s summer, and I’m flying out of Chicago to visit South Korea for the first time.  Chicago is the same as it always is.  People rushing about, bumping into one another, everyone too hurried to stop and think about those around them.  The experience is horrid, the flight via American Airlines not particularly fun.  The attendants are rude and have no time to get me the requested drink, my query as to its location an hour later answered solely with a huff and impatient “just wait a minute.” Arriving at LAX is no more enjoyable; no one will stop so I can ask for directions, the check-in attendants ignore all my questions.  Getting slammed into and having people walk all over my stuff as I tried picking it up doesn’t help any.

But everything changes once I move in Korean Air’s territory.

Best Camera?

Best Camera?

I’m looking for a camera that is moderately priced (I’m a student more than $100,000 in debt and counting), but that will take decent photos when travelling. This is what I took with me over the summer, but it takes horrid moving photos. Anything like water that doesn’t stand still is junk, as are half my photos. It blurs at the slightest movement of your hands. What would y’all recommend?

Gluten Free Apple Pie

Gluten Free Apple Pie

What is your favorite dish?  Mine is always the apple pie, and I make a mean apple pie if I do say so myself 🙂  Unfortunately, this year I had to give up gluten, so I have been attempting to replace all my favorite thanksgiving dishes non Gluten-Free (GF) items.  So here is my new pie recipe!  See?  A blessing!  I did not have to give up any of my favorite treats this year.
